Huawei reveals P50 Android rival but it’s bad news for millions of fans



The company says the cameras come enabled with True-Chroma Shot, perfect image clarity, high dynamic range and improved smart snapshot capabilities. For the first time, it will be able to fix optical errors and reproduce fine details using computing power inside the cameras themselves. It will also sport time-lapse photos, super wide-angle, portrait mode, panoramas, predictive focus and much more.

The launch also confirmed other rumoured details, including the shock news the P50 won’t support 5G, unlike virtually all other high-end new smartphones.

The P50 model will come with a 6.5-inch 90Hz 1224p OLED display. The battery is more powerful than the iPhone 12, at 4,100mAh and capable of fast charging at up to 66W. It boasts 8GB of RAM and up to 256GB of memory. The price tag? 4,488 yuan, or around £497.

The P50 Pro is similar, with a slightly larger 6.6-inch display at 120Hz, 1228p OLED. The battery is a little more powerful and comes with wireless charging at 50W. There’s also one extra camera and up to 12GB RAM and 256GB storage. For all that, you’ll pay 5,988 yuan (around £663.90).
