  • Ledtech Group’s new air purifier the BioLED is powered by ams OSRAM’s OSLON UV 3636 LED, which can desirably inhibit the growth of viruses, bacteria and fungi in the air.

Taipei, Taiwan, June 24—ams OSRAM (SIX: AMS), a global leader in optical solutions, announced today that Ledtech Group’s new BioLED smart air purifier is equipped with its high-performance UV-C LED OSLON®UV 3636, as the UV disinfection technology involved can effectively fight germs and protect user health.

Based on the innovative active antibacterial approach, the BioLED can catch particulate pollutants in the air—such as PM2.5, pollen, molds and dust mites—using a three-layer filtering system including a pre-filter and active carbon layer. Meanwhile, the UV-C radiation will eliminate viruses, bacteria and fungi. The OSLON UV 3636 can kill up to 99.99% of viruses at 3.6 mJ/cm², including the SARS-CoV-2 virus.


The UV-C LED technology has created a new opportunity for manufacturers of air purification and surface disinfection equipment. ams OSRAM’s OSLON UV-C LED offers a solution that is smaller, more economical, reliable, and sustainable than conventional light sources. Coming with a surface-mount package measuring 3.6mm x 3.6mm, the OSLON UV 3636 has low peak wavelength tolerance, a long lifetime plus a 120° emission angle to achieve accurate beam control.
